The Texas Intercollegiate Press Association, in partnership with the Texas Auto Writers Association, is offering $7,000 in scholarships this year to students who intend to pursue careers in mass communications.
Applications for the 2025 TIPA scholarships are due March 7, 2025.
Fred Stewart Community College Scholarship – $2,000
This scholarship recognizes a student at a two-year TIPA member school. It is named after former TIPA executive director Fred Stewart, who retired in 2020. He was the longtime student publications director at Texas A&M-Commerce.
Jeff W. Henderson Memorial Scholarship for Journalism Excellence – $2,000
This scholarship recognizes a student at a four-year TIPA member school. It is named after Jeff W. Henderson, who was TIPA executive director from 1980-2001. He taught at Texas State University.

The Texas Auto Writers Association provides two $1,000 scholarships to juniors at four-year institutions who intend to pursue a career in journalism and one $1,000 scholarship to a junior at a four-year institution who intends to pursue a career in public relations.
