Michael Tribble

Michael Tribble is an Emmy Award-winning creative executive with 20-plus years of experience leading innovative storytelling and product teams at local, national, and global media companies. He is the chief content officer for WAMU 88.5.
He previously coordinated National Geographic’s most ambitious storytelling as a member of the Executive Team, planning and maximizing editorial impact and audience growth by working closely with strategic partners across The Walt Disney Company as well as the company’s non-profit partner, the National Geographic Society. During his tenure with National Geographic, he has held the positions of Director of Design, Senior Director of Major Projects and is currently Vice President, Multi-Platform Content and Integrated Storytelling.
He is a 19976 graduate of Texas A&M University-Commerce, where he was features editor and editor of the campus newspaper The East Texan, co-editor of the campus magazine The Special and elected student president of TIPA. He also received a Gold Circle Award from the /Columbia School of Journalism plus several TIPA contest awards. Prior to A&M-Commerce, he was editor of the campus newspaper The Bat at Paris Junior College.
After graduation from A&M-Commerce and prior to joining National Geographic, Michal was Director of Promotions at Advance Ohio; Assistant Managing Editor, digital and online and Sunday coordinator, design and graphic director at the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
