Howard Swindle
University of North Texas

As an investigative journalist, Howard Swindle earned three Pulitzer Prives for the Dallas Morning News. He was editor of UNT’s student newspaper, the Campus Chat, in 1968 and was named Outstanding Journalism Graduate. He also worked for the Fort Worth Press, Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and Dallas Times Herald. He is the author of several books, with one being the basis for a movie. His book “Jitter Joint” became the 2002 movie “Eye See You.”

Debby Krenek
Texas A&M

The former editor of The Battalion, Debby Krenek serves as publisher of Newsday Inc., the newspaper on Long Island, New York. She was previously editor-in-chief and editorial director. She was instrumental in developing nynewsday.com, the paper’s city-centric website. Earlier in her career, she served as editor-in-chief of the New York Daily News and worked at the Dallas Times Herald.

Robert Rodriguez
University of Texas

Robert Rodriguez is a former cartoonist for the University of Texas’ student newspaper, The Daily Texan. He is now a film director, screenwriter, producer, cinematographer, editor and musician. He was director of films “Desperado,” “From Dusk Till Dawn,” “The Faculty,” “Spy Kids,” “Sin City,” “Machete” and “Predators.” He also has a series of “Ten Minute Film School” segments on DVD, showing aspiring filmmakers how to make good, profitable movies using inexpensive tactics.
