  • Place Name: First Place
    Contestant Name: San Antonio College
    Entry Title: The Sundial
Entry Credit: Natalia Edwards, D.J. Agleton, Jacob Lopez, Aidan De Leon
Judge Comment: The Sundial's site is readable and professional. The hero images for each story were high quality and enticing. My only critiques would be adjusting the footer so it can act more like a site map and possibly adding section labeling o stories like "sports" and "local". I liked the No Kings Protest story's use of photos, though the grey font might be inaccessible to some readers so I would stick with black font. The sports story and profile on the SAC Staffer retiring was also cute and made good use of high quality archival photos.
  • Place Name: Second Place
    Contestant Name: Lamar University
    Entry Title: Website
    Entry Credit: UP Staff
Judge Comment: The site is well organized. The homepage hierarchy is good and everything on the site is readable. I appreciated the quality of all the photos. As for site design, try to make sure all the photos "fit" onto the user's screen and consider adding galleries and way for users to go full screen on individual photos.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: Tarrant County College
Entry Title: The Collegian, Tarrant County College
    Entry Credit: Collegian Staff
Judge Comment: The site organization was good and I thought it was useful that there's a way to filter news by campus. The entry was missing the 3 featured stories.
  • Place Name: Honorable Mention
Contestant Name: Dallas College - Brookhaven
Entry Title: The Brookhaven Courier website
    Entry Credit: Staff
Judge Comment: I liked how the site had accessibility features enabled such as font size adjustments and high contrast. To improve accessibility, make sure the text on the homepage isn't overlapping. When I checked on 2/10 some of the entries on the homepage overlapped so I had a hard time reading the headlines. The photos were visually compelling. Make sure the title of the story is visible and that it's clear for users to scroll on photo stories and that the header photo maybe leaves a 10-20% margin so it's clear that there's a whole story below it. The firefighter story would've benefitted from some more immersive elements.
