- Competition Comment: Second and third place were not awarded due to a lack of breaking news and very weak entries. While there were a lot of strong photos from protests, none of them constituted as breaking news. Remember, breaking news coverage does not allow for advance planning. Protests are planned. Resignations announced ahead of time are also planned. While breaking news can happen at protests and gatherings, for example, someone is arrested, a vehicle drives into the crowd, etc., none of the submitted works from assemblies qualified. Unfortunately, I could not judge Texas Tech Toreador entries due to broken links.
