  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: UT-Tyler
Entry Title: Taylor Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl” Lifted the Curtain, but Was Her Writing Left Off Stage?
    Entry Credit: Evan Fernandez
Judge Comment: Great sentences here on an overwritten-about artist. Good perspective.
  • Place Name: Honorable Mention
    Contestant Name: Midwestern
Entry Title: No rom-com couple feels more real than Harry and Sally
    Entry Credit: Khloe Sullivan
Judge Comment: With the death of Rob Reiner, this was timely and interesting to read as a longtime fan of Nora Ephron films. It's nice to read realizations by younger writers and add it to my own thoughts.
  • Competition Comment: Strong writing and perspectives in this category. Points taken off for lack of self-editing and condensing by some of the stronger writers. Digital journalism struggles with readers who have short attention spans and writers must adhere to a shorter word count to stay read and relevant.
