Competition Comment: Sports action photos are self explanatory - peak action in a well cropped moment.
First place definitely had all the elements. You can almost feel the contact in the double, flying kick. The photo was well cropped.
Second was a cleanly shot pitcher hurling the ball. The batter completed the composition to make it a more storytelling photo.
Third is a nice football sack of the quarterback. Not sure what that blurring is at the bottom of the photo.
The HM is a unique sports photo as a pair of rowing teams compete against one another.
Overall, several photos lacked a good crop. There’s pretty decent action in the photo, but they are left too loosely cropped. Some had other elements left in the photo that were competing visually with the featured subject. Btw, using blurring and vignetting filters is not allowed.
