Entry Title: To bike or not to bike

Judge Comment: Not sure I understand the circles being part of the theme (bike tires?) but, boy do I love it. This is a solid 10/10, no-notes layout. If I had any comment it'd be that the headline and deck are too similar in size, but I forgive that because their type treatments are so different. I have nothing else to say besides "wow." Just stellar.

Entry Title: Fall 2024

Judge Comment: The cover? Just wow. Really big fan of this. Love the old-school background color, font and style. Aside from a suggestion to use a bold face on little type for readability and consider a slightly darker shade on that light blue (unless that exact color is part of branding), I'm just very impressed. Inside, I love seeing the magnifying glass reappear as a pullquote element. Great sense of consistency and repetition to create a theme, especially on a page with no available photos! Good design call. Suggest using either a single word or mini-headline for "continues from" tags because "ECU story" reads like dummy copy. I'd go with just ECU.

- Place Name: Third Place
Contestant Name: UT-Tyler
Entry Title: Patriot Pulse
Entry Credit: KARLEIGH YANCY
Judge Comment: Solid cover. Great use of illustration and balancing the type on the page so it doesn't compete but also isn't weighted all on one side. Inside pages show a great grasp of design principles and use of things like art, color, typography, and most importantly: keeping things simple!

- Place Name: Honorable Mention
Contestant Name: St. Edward's University
Entry Title: Hearts & Minds: A St. Edward's Education
Entry Credit: Claire Lawrence, Chloe Almendarez, Scarlett Houser, Isis Debrock
Judge Comment: Solid use of illustration on the cover when a photo may not be the best move. Great continued use of illustrations inside when photos weren't available. I would encourage you to explore running photos larger to bring a balance to the art and make sure they are easily readable but the illustrations themselves are incredibly well done.
