Judge Comment: - Great job including captions on-screen in videos. Love the incorporation of interviews during Tyler Topics. Suggestion for future engagement: The content in the video could be repurposed and posted again as a carousel post, further exposing your audience to the news of the week in a different format.
- Various video formats and editing styles are great. They showcase the tone of the subject matters well!
- “Come with me” vlog style for covering the Starbucks opening was smart. Great job.

Judge Comment: - Love the CTA at the end of the Mean Girls video. It feels very authentic to the staff.
- Single post on removal of pride flag was good. Could be improved by adding quotes from students in the caption to the IG posts as well, making it a carousel. This would increase engagement by giving your audience another way to interact with the post. In addition, the quotes on subsequent slides could encourage more sharing from your audience.

Judge Comment: - Good work incorporating videos. How has your audience responded to them when you do share them? Recommend adding captions on-screen for improved accessibility and engagement. Also recommend exploring various video styles beyond “man-on-the-street.” Some of the quotes from the folks interviewed would’ve been great hooks to then share more about the story overall. (Glad to see a different format in the last video post submitted.)
- Breaking news post was good, could be improved by including the headline on the graphic. It would draw more attention in-feed and would help your audience quickly see the news so they can decide to read more (your caption, or further on your website).

Judge Comment: - Cutlines are not social media captions.
- Suggest including quotes on images to help the visuals stand out on social media a bit more. For the feature post about the coach, it would have been great to see this built out as a carousel post that included quotes from the article and the article text itself interspersed on the graphics instead of putting the article in the caption of the post.
- It would’ve been great to see touchdown video footage together as a compilation clip in one video paired with a short caption that previewed the highlights. As a reader, it was hard to tell if the post was supposed to be about the football team or the student who took the footage…
- Again, would recommend putting less information about the photographer in the captions of the posts. If you want to highlight staff, you could do a separate post, more interview-style, that explains the intention behind the photos. But for a news consumer, they’ll care more about the photos and what happened than who took them, unless that’s the focus of the post. Blending the two is too confusing.
- The last video needed more context. What information does the audience need in order to understand why the newspaper is sharing this? The caption itself doesn’t tell the audience anything about the event, the action being recorded or where they could learn more if interested.
