  • Place Name: First Place
    Contestant Name: UT-Austin
    Entry Title: thedailytexan.com
Entry Credit: Breigh Plat, Amelia Kimball, Lucero Ponce, McKenzie Henningsen
Judge Comment: Longhorns: oops, you did it again. Though by sheer size you could cover only campus life you blend stories about Austin, and intersections between Austin and UT as well. Adheres to and distinguishes itself with a signature UT style with colors and fonts making it readable and a viual delight.
  • Place Name: Second Place
Contestant Name: University of North Texas
    Entry Title: ntdaily.com
Entry Credit: Ismael M. Belkoura, Rose Wright, McKinnon Rice
Judge Comment: The Eagle never fails to impress with its combination of timely news stories with a local focus, and a great visual balance that's easy on the eyes. Well-written, to the point and chock full of content, the hard news writers of the future start here.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: UT-Arlington
    Entry Title: The Shorthorn staff
    Entry Credit: The Shorthorn staff
Judge Comment: Man, UTA. You really put out quite a newspaper. It's tight, shows commitment with a dizzying area of stories and focuses on the basics. No frills means it's about old-school journalism.
  • Place Name: Honorable Mention
    Contestant Name: UT-El Paso
Entry Title: The Prospector Daily Website
Entry Credit: Emmanuel Rivas Valenzuela, Alyda Muela
Judge Comment: Hubba hubba. Fantastic layout with a bold header (albeit font could be smaller), right balance in carousel of news, features and opinion and consistency. Could be fussy but someone(s) with a good eye salvaged it. Great rid of text below the headlines and and moves some of those shimmering stories to the top
  • Competition Comment: What a stellar group of contestants. Overall each of the winners could easily be number one, but UT stands out again for the distinct branding. There's a reason nonetheless these schools pump out fine talent, and it's evident in the newspapers.
