Competition Comment: Several entries really deserve a different category: personal narrative/column. I don't know if you have such a category but maybe could be considered for the future. I know these personal narratives are technically considered feature stories and are often taught in a feature writing section or class. But they are really a different animal much like coverage of the Super Bowl is sports when it technically is a news event. Just a thought.
