Judge Comment: I absolutely love the package at the top in support of student media. Good use of the editorial cartoon and really nice job engaging with students with the nicely designed Student Speak section. Since the page is already labeled "Opinion," I would find new ways to label the columns.

Judge Comment: Very nice looking page. Not the most newsy page but good content. The line separating the top column from the lower content isn't really needed. And I would wrap text along the left side of mug boxes. Really like the illustration and the info graphic. Overall, good looking stuff.

Judge Comment: Very clean design. As a tab, I understand the page constraints, but the editorial cartoons are good. Go three columns! I would find a way to make that work because the cartoons are just too small. Maybe go for a true op/ed with editorial on one page and columns on the facing page. Seeing too much dead space in the masthead but that design with the logo at the top is pretty cool.

Judge Comment: Really outstanding content and news judgment. But I'm not a fan of the design. Too much italics and some funky spacing in the text wraps. I like the idea behind the mug boxes but the lines sort of run too close to the copy. Let the editorial box breath. The copy is really large and runs too close to the edge of the box. The graphic at the bottom is good but it needs some detail about the poll. I appreciate the presence of the First Amendment at the top but it distracts from the overall design.
