Judge Comment: Great use of the Instagram Stories platform. Good variety of sources, content types, and information. Consistent coverage that built out a trusted source of news for the event online.
  • Place Name: Second Place
    Contestant Name: Eastfield College
Entry Title: ETC Social media breaking news
Entry Credit: Moira McIntee, Carmen Guzman
Judge Comment: This was a good use of Twitter to cover a live event with a mix of content types (photos, videos, and text). I would like to have seen it be a bit more comprehensive and include more from attendees and other sources at the event.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: A&M-Kingsville
Entry Title: Best Use of Socila Media - Breaking News
    Entry Credit: Makaylah Chavez
Judge Comment: Use of live streaming for an event like this makes sense. This example showed the power of live streaming to bring real-time events to more people. I would have like to see more on-the-spot interviews with march attendees, and more variety of content across the livestream. The team could have done a few reminders for new watchers as to what they were seeing and, from a news perspective, what was happening in real time. Overall, great use of the platform with potential to do even better.
