Place Name: First Place Contestant Name: A&M-Kingsville Entry Title: News Cast 2 Entry Credit: Rae Martinez, Emeri Drewry, Erik Estrada, Ronni Reyna Judge Comment: The packages within the newscast had high quality video and audio, and they contained a variety of shots. The newscast had a good flow and I could tell the producers were thoughtful about how the stacked their show. To improve, I would move the first two feature stories to the end of the show because I think it's better to lead a newscast with a news story. The sexual assault protest would have made a great first story.
Place Name: Second Place Contestant Name: Amarillo College Entry Title: AC Report Video Wrap-up Entry Credit: Raygan Lopez, Aiden Blankenship Judge Comment: This newscast had a nice variety of stories, but the audio issues were a bit distracting. The packages would have been better if they included more variety in their shots.
Place Name: Third Place Contestant Name: Texas Wesleyan University Entry Title: April Newscast with Chiara Watson Entry Credit: Rambler Staff Judge Comment: The anchor had good composure. The student packages did a good job of including multiple sources, but the video quality could be improved. I noticed shots that were out of focus. The student packages also needed more variety in their shots. A lot of them were stationary video of the students they were interviewing.
