Nomination Guidelines & Criteria

Nominee must be a current member of TIPA

1. Minimum of three years of service as adviser in TIPA.

2. Not mandatory that the three years be at the same school. However, all schools where the nominee was an adviser must be TIPA members.

3. Doesn’t have to be continuous service to TIPA. Years of service as adviser to TIPA may be broken.

Nominee must be nominated by a letter from student editor/station manager

1. Include list of other students (present and former) for reference.

2. The nominating editor/station manager will be contacted.

3. There is no solicitation of student references by the committee. Other students are contacted only if listed as a reference.

Nomination must include a recommendation from professional media

1. Recommendations may include alumni now working as professionals.

2. For those who wouldn’t have a former student in the professional field, the nominee may be recommended by a professional in the school’s home city or a professional who has employed one of the nominee’s students.

Nomination must include a recommendation from a member of college/university administration 

1. Recommendation from college/university administrator(s).

2. Recommendation from nominee’s immediate supervisor.

Awards won in TIPA are not a factor
